Djilobodji said: 'I’m very happy to sign for a big club like Chelsea and I want to do my best to help the team win titles. I want to thank the club for giving me this opportunity.'

Djilobodji (full name Papiss Mison Djilobodji), a Senegal international, has become a key figure for Nantes since signing for the French club in 2009.

Having started his career playing for Senegalese side ASC Saloum, Djilobodji opted to make the move to Europe in October 2009 and signed for Senart-Moissy, who were in the French fourth division at the time.

It seems boss Jose Mourinho has made a late move to bolster his defensive options with a £2.7m move for Djilobodji, after Everton repeatedly turned down his advances for Englishman John Stones.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho turned his attention to the 6ft 4in centre-back after failing to sign England's John Stones from Everton.
The Blues are also set to sign Reading centre-back Michael Hector, 23, for £4m and are likely to loan him back.
Djilobodji, who was in the last year of his contract, made 183 appearances for Nantes since joining in 2010.
