Los Angeles Galaxy, CONCACAF Champions League group Allowance straight
The Galaxy can join D.C. United in the knockout stage of the CONCACAF Champions League with a draw or better in their first road encounter of the competition after dominating their Group D matches at home. They routed Trinidad and Tobago side Central FC, 5-1, on Aug. 6 – Giovani Dos Santos' LA debut – then followed with a 5-0 dismantling of Guatemalan powerhouse Comunicaciones nearly two weeks later.

The Galaxy, needing only a tie to win its three-team
group and advance to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, sent a
team of reserves to Trinidad & Tobago for Wednesday's game. That
means no Robbie Keane, no Giovani Dos Santos, no Steven Gerrard. Getting
a positive result should still be no problem, though; the Galaxy
pounded Central, 5-1, in their first meeting at the StubHub Center. And
even if it slips up, the Galaxy has plenty of wiggle room with a plus-9
goal differential after two games
